Mercedes Rolls Out the Most Expensive Car in Korea

A German luxury sedan has set a new record as the most expensive car for sale in Korea. The new Maybach 62 comes with a price tag of a whopping W850 million (US$1=W1,150), higher than the previous record holder, the Rolls-Royce Phantom 2WB at W826 million.


Mercedes-Benz Korea announced Tuesday the launch of the updated Maybach 57 and 62 here, which both made their world premieres at this year's Beijing Motor Show.Both models are powered by a 5.5-liter V12 engine that produces up to 551 horsepower and maximum torque of 91.7 kg-m, propelling the cars to a top speed of 250 km/h. The 57 can reach 100 km/h in just under 5.2 seconds, and the 62 in less than 5.4 seconds.

The 57, priced at W570 million, features reclining rear seats, 21 Bose loudspeakers, and a multi-format DVD player. Former Samsung Group chairman Lee Kun-hee drives a Maybach 62 S.
